Phase-out of methyl bromide in the agriculture

Floating tray system as a soil-less cultivation of the tobacco seedling is used for production of tobacco seedlings. Biofumigation in combination with solarization is applied in the vegetable cultivation.

The project is in phase of implementation, the chosen alternatives are showing excellent results in tobacco seedling production (better root development, plants are healthy and uniform, better rate of acceptance in the open field) and vegetable cultivation (enrichment of the soil structure and yields with better quality).

Besides the above mentioned advantages, it must be taken in consideration that there is no evidence of methyl bromide import in the Republic of Macedonia in 2003, and till the end of 2005 complete methyl bromide elimination is expected.
