Refrigeration Management Plan

Refrigeration Management Plan

The project RMP objective was to develop a comprehensive and detailed programme for recovery and recycling of the ozone depleting substances used for the refrigeration servicing in the country (training programme on good practices in refrigeration maintenance for service technicians; training of customs officers; recovery and recycling of refrigerants) contributing to prevent the emission of the CFCs into the atmosphere.

Training programme on good practices in refrigeration maintenance

About 266 service technicians for household and small commercial equipment were trained on good practices in refrigeration maintenance (list of the trained service technicians available in the Ozone Unit).

Training of customs officers

Leak detectors for substances that deplete the ozone layer were provided and customs officers were trained for proper recording and control of the ODS import.

Recovery and recycling of refrigerants

Three recycling centres (Skopje, Ohrid, Strumica) were established in the Republic of Macedonia and 100 service stations were provided with CFC/HCFC recovery and recycling equipment.

Service technicians that were granted with R&R equipment are obliged to submit reports on recovered and recycled CFC quantities. The table below shows the recovered&recycled quantities within the period from May 2001 to the end of 2005:
